Community Involvement

The CYS is well known within the community for its support of other agencies and initiatives. We make regular contributions to support local charitable causes.

Through our Pack for a Purpose initiative we support:

FSN (Family Support Network): Supporting individuals, couples and families affected by domestic violence.

YEP (Youth Empowerment Project) BVI - a safe haven for young people providing them opportunities and activities to develop them as community minded citizens with aspirations to reach their full potential.

KATS (Kids and the Sea) Swim: Promoting safety on and around the sea for young people. KATS water sports program offers swimming, sea skills, sailing, and scuba diving to BVI youth.

PAW BVI: Aims to decrease the number of homeless, abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats by funding spaying and neutering of stray animals and "owned" animals whose owners can't afford to have it done privately. PAW has a network of volunteer fosterers who fill in the gap until homes can be found or they can be sent to rescue partners in the USA.

Other beneficiaries include:

KATS (Kids and the Sea) - Youth sailing and leadership training.

SHOES by CREWS - Returning to school after summer break is exciting New bags, new books, new uniforms and new shoes. But all these new items at one time can be overwhelming for a parent to afford. Our Shoes by Crews initiative gives families a little relief from the financial demands of back to school.

VISAR (Virgin Islands Search and Rescue), the officially recognised search and rescue service in the British Virgin Islands. It is a voluntary organisation dedicated to saving life at sea.

The Royal BVI Yacht Club Youth Sailing programme receives regular support from the CYS. They teach young people safe, courteous and enjoyable use of the waters. Their talented young sailors represent the BVI on the international sailing circuit. We are extremely proud of them.
